Sometimes you want to pamper yourself with an unusual dish with an unusual taste and such a dish can easily become a roll. Vegan rolls differ from the classic only in filling, otherwise the principle of preparation is identical.
Recipe for vegan rolls
We will need:
- Rice (2 cups)
- 500ml of water
- Vinegar (low percentage) 50 ml
- Salt to taste
- Sugar 30g
- Algae Nori
- Sharp knife
- Soy sauce (optional)
- Wasabi, pickled ginger (optional)
Rice can be taken the cheapest, it is not necessary to buy special rice for rolls. Rinse, bring to a boil and simmer for a minimum of 10 minutes, then leave in a closed saucepan until rice absorbs all the water, most importantly, so as not to be digested. Prepare the rice in a closed saucepan so it will not burn. If there is more water left, you can drain it.
Add the vinegar mixed with sugar and salt.
For the filling can be used: tofu, avocado, cucumber, tomatoes, red pepper, green onions, carrots, mushrooms, seaweed, lean mayonnaise, sesame.
For the basis, we take Nori seaweed, it is they that impart a fishy taste, but if you want more fish taste, make two layers of Nori.
On the mat lay the sheet of Nori, on top of a thin layer of rice, leaving the edge of Nori free. There is a filling on top of the rice. It is better to cut everything with long slices. Try to combine different ingredients to get different tastes. There are no strict rules. I really like the taste of green onions and sesame in rolls.
Carefully roll the sausage with a mat, so that it completely sticks together and does not fall apart, for this purpose Nori's edge was left free. We cut into pieces.
For sauce, as elsewhere we use soy sauce and wasabi. Wasabi, by the way, you can replace horseradish or mustard.
As you can see, vegan rolls are prepared simply and diversely. You can pleasantly surprise your friends and relatives by preparing vegan rolls.
